Anwar studied fine art from National Diploma Gwalior in 1985. He has had both solo as well as group exhibitions in various cities across India since 1986.
He has been the recipient of many awards like All India Kalidas exhibition,1985, Madhya Pradesh State Exhibition, Bhopal, 1986, Bharat Bhavan scholarship, Bhopal, South central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur 1988, Mahakoshal Kala Parishad, Raipur 1989, All India Arts & Crafts Society New Delhi 1989, II Bharat Bhavan Biennial, Bhopal,1990 Govt. of India Fellowship, New Delhi (1993-94), National Award by Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (1995), Govt. of India Senior Fellowship, New Delhi (1996-97).
He lives and works in Delhi.
