Ramesh Gorjala was born in 1979 in Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh. He joined the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad to study art. He was influenced by his uncle’s Kalamkari drawings.
His paintings are based on Indian mythology. He combines elaborate designs and details with Kalamkari techniques. The artist has participated in various solo and group exhibitions in India and abroad. He is the recipient of the Mahatma Gandhi Birth Centenary Memorial Award from V.T.I., Chennai (2000) and the State Award from the Andhra Pradesh Crafts Council (2002).
